Busy seasons of life call for recipes that are comforting, budget-friendly, and truly simple to put together. Today I'm sharing two of my favorite dump-and-go pasta meals - the kind you stir together, pop into the Instant Pot or oven, and let them do the work.
In this post, I'm making:
- Instant Pot spaghetti sauce
- Dump-and-bake chicken alfredo pasta casserole
Both of these recipes come from incredible creators whose work I appreciate so much, and I'm giving full credit and links below so you can view the original recipes and exact instructions.
These meals are perfect for:
- busy weeknights
- bringing dinner to a friend
- new baby or illness meals
- easy Sunday dinners
- freezer meal prep days
As a mom and grandma, I love meals that make life simpler without sacrificing real ingredients and good flavor. These absolutely fit that description.

What I love about dump & go meals
There are a few reasons these meals show up again and again in my kitchen:
- minimal prep work
- inexpensive pantry ingredients
- great for large families or leftovers
- easy to double
- freezer-friendly
- everyone actually eats them
There is something so satisfying about stirring simple ingredients together in one pan or pot and letting it cook while you wash dishes, help with homework, or fold laundry.
Dump & Go Meal #1: Instant Pot Spaghetti Sauce
This spaghetti sauce is hearty, rich, and incredibly easy thanks to the Instant Pot. You dump everything in, stir it, and pressure-cook. No constant simmering on the stove, and the flavors develop beautifully. The only difference in the recipe I made was using a small can of tomato paste.
How I like to use it:
- over spaghetti or other pasta
- in lasagna or baked ziti
- as a base for meatball subs
- portioned into freezer containers for later
You can keep it meatless or add ground beef, Italian sausage, or even leftover shredded roast.
Dump & Go Meal #2: Chicken Alfredo Pasta Casserole
This is a classic dump-and-bake recipe - no boiling noodles ahead of time. Everything goes right into the baking dish, gets stirred together, and bakes into a creamy, cozy pasta dinner.
It's perfect for:
- nights when you don't want to babysit the stove
- dropping off dinner to a family
- picky eaters who love simple flavors
You can also add:
- peas or broccoli
- spinach
- leftover cooked chicken or rotisserie chicken
- a sprinkle of parsley before serving
How to turn these into freezer meals
Both of these meals freeze beautifully. Here's what I do:
For spaghetti sauce
- let it cool completely
- ladle into freezer containers or freezer bags
- lay flat if using bags to save space
- label with name + date
It will keep for about 3-4 months in the freezer.
To reheat: thaw overnight in the fridge or reheat gently from frozen on the stove.
For chicken alfredo casserole
You can freeze it unbaked or baked.
Unbaked:
- assemble according to the recipe
- cover tightly with foil
- freeze up to 3 months
Baked:
- let it cool
- divide into portions
- freeze in containers
To bake from frozen: allow extra time and check pasta tenderness before serving.
Simple serving ideas
Here are some of our favorite easy sides to make these into complete meals:
- green salad with vinaigrette
- roasted vegetables
- garlic bread or buttered toast
- sliced cucumbers and tomatoes
- fruit salad for little ones
Nothing fancy - just good food, enjoyed together.
Final thoughts
These meals remind me that dinner doesn't always have to be complicated to bless our families. Sometimes, the very most straightforward recipes are the ones everyone requests again and again.
If you try either of these dump-and-go meals, I'd love to hear how your family enjoyed them.
At the end of the day, dinner is about so much more than food. It's about gathering the people we love, offering what we have, and creating simple moments around the table. These dump-and-go meals are just one small way I try to make that a little easier in my own home. Whether your table is full and noisy, or it's just you and one other person tonight, I hope you feel encouraged to keep showing up, keep cooking, and keep loving your people well - one meal at a time.
