Homemade Brownie Pantry Mix

A simple homemade brownie mix to keep stocked in your pantry. Measure out 3 cups when you're ready to bake, add a few basic ingredients, and you'll have an easy 8×8 pan of homemade brownies.

Ingredients
  

  • 5 cups granulated sugar
  • cups powdered sugar
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Instructions
 

  • Add all of the dry ingredients to a large mixing bowl. Whisk thoroughly until everything is evenly combined. Transfer to an airtight container and store in a cool, dry pantry.
    To Make One 8×8 Pan of Brownies
    3 cups brownie mix
    2 eggs
    1 tablespoon vanilla
    ½ cup butter, melted
    2 tablespoons water or coffee
    Up to 1 cup chocolate chips, walnuts, or other add-ins, optional
    Make the Brownies
    Preheat oven to 350°F.
    Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
    Measure 3 cups brownie mix into a mixing bowl
    Add eggs, vanilla, melted butter, and water or coffee.
    Stir until combined.
    Fold in optional chocolate chips, walnuts, or other add-ins.
    Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan.
    Bake for 40–45 minutes, beginning to check for doneness a little earlier if desired.
    Cool before cutting.

Notes

For fudgier brownies, don't overbake. A toothpick inserted near the center can have a few moist crumbs attached, but should not have wet batter.
